About Cerro de la Gloria

The Cerro de la Gloria or the Glory hill is a mountain located near the city of Mendoza. This mountain acts as an icon of freedom struggle by San Martin and gives ample information about Mendoza and Argentinian history. Originally designed by Juan Manual Ferrari, the monument holds a bronze statue that depicts various icons of the war and various stories related to it. It was built in 1911 and works went on till its completion in 1914. Being a representation of freedom, the Cerro de la Gloria is considered as one of the most important destinations in Mendoza. Worth visiting, the national monument of the army of the Andes is breath-taking and so majestic. The monument is decorated with various fountains and lush vegetation. The road near the monument leads to a hill where the visitors can enjoy a stunning view of the Mendoza city. How to reach

Cerro de la Gloria is located at about 20 km from the city center. It is advised to pick a taxi or an Uber to reach the destination. It takes 30 minutes to reach there with a fare of 880 ARS.

  • The highlight of Cerro de la Gloria is a monument that marks the freedom fight of San Martin for Argentina. Photographs are allowed and it is advised to carry a good camera along with you.
  • Shops are open near the monument however you won't find any stops or shops on the way to the monument.
  • Be sure to carry water along with you as there is a considerable distance to walk.
  • It may get hot during day time and so put on sunscreen while visiting.
  • There are snacks and beverages available and even drinking water fountains.
  • It is advised to take a cab or help of a guide as you may lose track of the path.
  • The premises have ample parking space and a police outpost for help.
  • It is better to go early in the day as the weather may get too hot by noon.
  • Carry an exact change of money if you want to buy anything from the destination or if you are planning to avail public bus.
