How to reach

Schönbrunn Zoo is on the grounds of Schönbrunn Palace. In order to reach the main entrance to the zoo please use the park entrance gate Hietzinger Tor. Using public transport you can take the U4 Station Hietzing Tramway: 10, 58, 60 Bus:51A, 56A, 56B, 58A. If you are coming by car there are two park-and-ride garages only a couple of underground stations away from the zoo. Tips

  • There are limited options for private car parking and is therefore recommended to use public transportation to reach the zoo. There are parking facilities for the disabled on the “Seckendorff-Student Weg.” The pathways to the historical part of the zoo via the entrance “Tirolergarten” are very steep and not suitable for wheelchair use. The tree-top path is more suitable, but may be closed due to adverse weather conditions.
  • A free map of the zoo is available at the ticket offices or at one of the folder racks in the zoo. It shows where to find which animals, their feeding times and useful information about the infrastructure.
  • The best times to visit the zoo are when the animals are active which is usually in the morning. Also, check the free plan for information on feeding times for the animals to see the animals feeding.
  • This is a good option for cold/wet weather options with lots of indoor enclosures.
  • Open 365 days of the year.
  • Avoid weekends.
