A mesmerizing manmade lake in the heart of Bangladesh’s port city of Chittagong (also known as Chattogram), Foy’s Lake was constructed in 1924 as a means to provide water supply to the residents of the nearby railway colony. Also known as Lake Fayez, the lake is supposedly named after a railway engineer, Mr. Foy, who was responsible for administering the project. An extremely popular spot for locals as well as tourists, the lake is not only famous for its pristine water body but also the splendid beauty of the surrounding hills. Additionally, there is an Amusement Park and a Sea World Resort within the vicinity that keeps drawing visitors, especially families with young kids.
Foy’s Lake Amusement Park is a popular theme park that is spread over 320 acres of lush green landscape. The park is set in a panoramic setting with plush forests, mesmerizing hills, and the Lake to add to its charm. Though the amusement park is a dry park, it’s neighboring Sea World Resort is a water theme park with a variety of fun water rides such as splash pools, water coaster rides, tube slides, wave pools, and much more.
By Air: Shah Amanat International Airport is the closest airport to the lake.
From the airport, the attraction is 23.8 kilometers far and takes approximately half an hour via a taxi. Fare is between BDT 420 to BDT 600
By Road: The distance between the city center and the lake is 8.2 kilometers.
A taxi takes around 10 minutes and costs between BDT 170 to BDT 255
You can also take a bus, autorickshaw, Tempo, or a private car to go to the lake from the city. It takes approximately half an hour to do so
