About Shaheed Minar

Shaheed Minar was constructed as a tribute to martyrs of the Bengali national movement of 1952, killed by the Pakistani government. The monument has columns made from stained glasses colored deep blue and yellow to symbolize the sunlight in the eyes of martyrs. The columns themselves represent a mother surrounded by her dead sons. The floor is made of marble and designed to give the columns a mirage-like view.
