About Pointe-à-Callière

A visit to Pointe a Calliere is a great introduction to the greatest city in Canada.  Discovery a fascinating history of Montreal and it’s foundations — literally.  Incredibly informative. So unique!  It is a  wonderful museum when looking for the history of Montreal. Several highlights are - the walk through the history of the native people and the French, and then the British - then the ruins under the museum where all the items were found - and the section of the sight they have saved for future excavation once technology advances!  Watch out for an immersive multimedia show that presents a high-speed view of the city’s history, the remains come to life and the count down begins! The history of Montreal is laid out from it's First Nations origins to our modern day. The exhibition moves in chronological order and unearths, the foundations of the original city, which you can see, and it's aqueduct system which you walk through. For novices, it's a great introduction and for real buffs, it more than delivers. The museum also offers temporary local and international exhibitions. For Montréal’s 375th anniversary, Pointe-à-Callière inaugurated the Fort Ville-Marie - Québecor Pavillion and the Memory Collector walking through the first sewer channels through Montreal - and the light/sound experience. It was a very interactive experience overall - great job!
