About Canadian War Museum

Located in the capital city of Canada, Ottawa, Canadian War Museum is the country’s national museum. The museum includes all the recorded instances from the very beginning, several years ago to the most recent dispute. To explain, it has all facets of World War I and II including the French and Indian War too. However, the building has been changed into a new one, which is in a new site towards the east of central Ottawa. The new building is designed by one of the Japanese Canadians imprisoned, Raymond Moriyama and it is acclaimed by the public as well as professionals. The building is around 14 kilometres away from the airport, which can be easily covered in about 14 minutes by car. Location wise, it is just 2 kilometres west of the country’s Parliament Building.

Like other museums in Canada, the Canadian War Museum also offers free admission to the visitors on Thursdays from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Though the museum opened its gate back in 1880, the new building started operating in 2005. The building has a total of eight galleries and they are named as Battleground, For Crown and Country, Forged in Fire, A Violent Peace, The Royal Canadian Legion Hall of Honour, LeBreton Gallery, Regeneration Hall, and Memorial Hall. Apart from these, it also has a theatre, named Barney Danson Theatre, a Military Research Centre, and a Library. Canadian War Museum has a wide collection of 13,0000 war art. The memoirs have been collected since 1916.
