About University Of Concepcion

Popularly known as the ‘Capital of Southern Chile’, Concepcion is the second largest city of Chile. A unique combination of modern infrastructure and the conservation of ‘green spaces’ make it an attractive tourist spot. The city of Concepcion is a heaven for its residents and tourists alike. Clean and healthy air, fresh and organic food, stable and pleasant weather, what more could anybody ask for?  There is no dearth of entertainment here with shopping centres, cinemas, zoos and many more things on the offer.

The University of Concepcion is just another place to visit among many other tourist attractions. The university is dedicated to the development of international observatories in Chile, since its inception in 1919. Ronald Mennickent was the first astronomer to be hired by the university. A Concepcion native, he went on to get his PhD at a Chilean institution. By 2007, the Astronomy department was independent and started its undergraduate program. Alternatively, Concepcion is a hub of entertainment with many beaches, sports and outdoor activities and of course abundance of local markets and restaurants. All the attractions are easily accessible by modern public and private transport.
