Sacred Heart Cathedral is known by many names; Sacred Heart Cathedral in Guangzhou, Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Shishi Catholic Church. This holy and peaceful place is located within the bustling urban area. The walls and pillars are made of granite, giving nicknames to the cathedral. When in Guangzhou, you have to visit the church and feel the holy and mysterious atmosphere.
The Cathedral is said to be the biggest gothic-style cathedral in China and Southeast Asia and took 25 years to build. The stained windows, the high spires, and arches and the spacious and the high inner sanctum, all make this building look like a European cathedral. This isn't a Roman Catholic church, but it is the cathedral of the Chinese bishop in Guangzhou
Take metro Line 2 or metro Line 6 to Haizhu Square, get out from Exit B2, and walk west along Yide Road to the cathedral.
