About The Bund

The word "Bund" means "embankment". The waterfront area in Central Shanghai is spread across the Western bank of the Huangpu river. The Bund refers to the buildings and skyscrapers on the section across the embankment. This is a very famous tourist spot, which is usually crowded with visitors and street sellers. Evenings are spectacular at the Bund, once the buildings situated across both sides of the river are lit up. Historically, the buildings at the Bund housed several banks and trading houses of the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, Germany, Japan, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands.

The buildings are built in an eclectic style, while some of them have a flair of gothic, Romanesque, Renaissance, Baroque and beaux-arts style. However, most of the buildings have been built in the Art Deco style. The Shanghai Bund is also considered "An Exhibition of International Buildings" or "The Museum of Buildings". The place has exclusive restaurants, bars, shops, and hotels. When you visit the place early in the morning, you can see the locals jogging, walking, exercising and flying kites. If you want to explore the architecture and history of a building, then you are permitted to enter and explore it. You can also enjoy boating and shopping at the Bund.

Lights, splendor, the contemporary and yet classic look of the city running along, The Bund is a spectacle you do not want to miss. The contrast of a modern, fast-paced Shanghai with the pristine beauty of a beautifully located waterfront area, populated by thousands of tourists every day will, without a doubt, give space to memories you will forever cherish. From neo-classical buildings to baroque style architectures and endless entertainment for all, you will be surrounded by legendary icons of beauty and historical landmarks while taking in the fresh river breeze. Whether you decide to take a walk or drive by The Bund, you will be surrounded by grandiosity and a picturesque image of a place that lets your dreams come to reality.
