About Tongli Town

Tongli Town is one of the six famous ancient towns to the south of the Yangtze River. Tongli was established by the Song Dynasty, and the town has a history of over 1,000 years. The streets of Tongli have an antique flavor. There are eight major streets in Tongli Ancient Town: Zhuxing Street, Fuguan Street, Xinzhen Street, Shangyuan Street, Sanyuan Street, Dongxi Street, Yuxing Street, and Nanxing Street. Currently, the town submerged with water from all sides offers trips to and from shops and residences, an amazing experience for all those who visit the area.

How to reach

Take a bus from Suzhou North Gate Long Distance Bus Station or directly from Suzhou Train Station. Distance- 18kms

There are frequently running coaches from North Square of Suzhou Railway Station, Suzhou North Bus Station, Suzhou South Bus Station, and others, which mainly take about 1 hour to get to Tongli Bus Station. From there you can get to Tongli Water Town Scenic Area by taking the local vehicles like rickshaw, bus, minibus, taxi, etc. for about 1.5 km.

If you drive from Suzhou downtown, it will take about 40 min to reach Tongli Water Town.

Tips

  • Visit the Pearl Tower to feel the love story and admire the sightseeing, and see the carvings in Chongben Hall.
  • Take a boat to Luoxing Island to admire the charming natural scenery.
  • Go to Gengle Hall to enjoy the water garden and the ancient houses. After that, take a sculling boat to appreciate the charm of Tongli Water Town.
  • Let the local carter take you to appreciate Tongli Water Town with a distinct visual angle on the ancient rickshaw.
  • Children must be accompanied at all times.
  • ID proof required at places to stay.
