About Calle Mercaderes

Plaza de la Catedral, which is located on the north side, finds its connection to the Plaza Vieja, which lies towards the southern end through the Calle Mercaderes. This reason is enough for the locals and the historical literates to term this street as the vein that keeps the blood flowing through Havana. However, the existence of the place is also much more than a simple street or destination. The passenger terminal and the ferries terminal of Havana lies ever so close to this place. It is one of the main reasons that the place was restored to all its glory with impeccable maintenance to attract tourist footfalls.

Moreover, the Calle Mercaderes also houses infinite opportunities to visit the magnificent display of art, craft, history, and cultural relevance of Cuba. The various museums, which might need an entire day to recall their names, are spatially distributed with their own significance. Some house the statues and the artefacts, whereas the others have the tender monument, the historically significant display of art, and much more.

The colonial taste of existence has always been maintained here for the purpose of familiarizing people with the rich Cuban past. Cuban cuisine, rich in the seafood and meat options, has always found its way right to the plate and the heart of any tourist walking through. The place has numerous attractions, some simple while others being really complicated. From a novice on a first-time travel journey to those seeking eyes of an old scholar, everybody finds peace at Calle Mercaderes.  Meanwhile, for the ladies who wish to empty their cash and fill their big shopping bags, the options to shop are in abundance.
