About Kahuzi-Biega National Park

"The Kahuzi-Biega National Park (Parc National de Kahuzi-Biéga) is one of the largest national parks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It takes its name from the two dormant volcanoes within its boundaries.

This protected park covers 6,000 square kilometres (2,300 sq mi) of mountainous and lowland terrain. The star of Kahuzi-Biega is the rare eastern lowland gorilla (or Grauer’s gorilla). Only two families of Grauer gorilla are open for trekking by visitors who want to venture into the jungle. These mighty animals are a protected and endangered species on the IUCN Red List.

This biodiverse rainforest is also home to a chimp orphanage.

Visit for the experience of a lifetime at this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Be sure to pack your safari clothes and camera to capture lifelong memories of the primates."
