About Great Sphinx of Giza

The face of the Sphinx is said to represent the face of the Pharaoh Khafra. Terrifying One, as the Great Sphinx is known in Egypt, is a limestone statue of a reclining sphinx, a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a human. Spanning from west to east, it stands distinctly on the Giza Plateau on the west bank of the Nile in Giza, Egypt. The dimensions of this great monument are 20 m x 19 m x 73 m with a height of 20m.
