About Suomenlinna

Suomenlinna is a sea fortress built on a set of 6 Islands just off the coast of Helsinki. Being a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the place is a refreshing getaway and picnic spot for tourists. Built during the rule of the Swedish crown in 1748 against Russian expansionism, the sea fortress holds national importance. The place has been of strategic importance for the Finnish regiment of the Swedish Army and Royal Swedish Navy. The intriguing tunnels and dock for the ships are worth exploring in the islands without a doubt.
