About Dilli Haat – Handicraft Village

Dilli Haat is a food plaza and craft bazaar located in Delhi. It is situated in the business center of South Delhi, opposite the INA market. Here, some shops are permanent but other sellers are rotated, typically for fifteen days. Products like rosewood and sandalwood carvings, embellished camel hide footwear, sophisticated fabric and drapery, gems, beads, brassware, metal crafts, and silk and wool fabrics can be found and purchased here. Handicrafts and handloom shows are frequently held at the exhibition hall in the complex. It is a colorful bazaar which is a treat to the eyes and is also a good place to do some souvenir shopping.

How to reach

The nearest stop for the metro and buses is the INA stop, which is very close to the Dilli Haat

Tips

  • There is a paid parking area beside the Haat which can accommodate around 30+ vehicles at a time.
  • You will find all kinds of jewelry, home decoration items, clothing, paintings, etc. from all over India.
  • It is the higher upper class and foreigners who make most of the purchase. Only very few items are for regular middle-class people.
  • There is a large food court area at the back of the Haat, which has state-wise food outlets that specialize in their local delicacies.
  • Washrooms are more or less clean.
  • Bargain, bargain, and more bargain. Being a famous tourist spot, bargaining skills are much needed.
  • Keep some time in hand as it easily takes 3 hours to move through all the stalls.
  • It is a well-known place for the craftsmen to display and sell their goods to customers especially the foreigners who visit here in large numbers.
  • Note that this is open air, so visiting in the evening may be more comfortable during hot seasons.
  • Be careful and specifically remind the server if you cannot handle chilies and spices.
  • Be aware of thieves.
