About Parshwanath Jain Temple Belgachhiya

Also known as Calcutta Jain Temple, Parshwanath Jain Temple is a house of worship dedicated to four Jain Tirthankaras. A Jain businessman initiated the construction of the temple in 1867. Owning its name to Parshwanath, the 23rd  Tirthankara of the Jains, the temple complex houses four separate temples, each dedicated to four Tirthankaras of the Jains. The temple's main shrine is that of  Shitalnath Bhagwan, who adorns a diamond-studded forehead, one of the major attractions of this temple. Another main attraction of this temple is a ghee lamp, which has never been put off since 1867. The elegant chandeliers and stained mirror glass adorn the ceiling and interiors of the temple. The last temple inside the premises is dedicated to Lord Vardhamana Mahavira, the last Jain Tirthankara. The two other shrines are dedicated to Dadagarudev Shri Jin Kushal Suriji Maharaja and Chanda Prabhujidev.

Paintings by the famous painter Ganesh Muskare adorn the temple's interiors, adding to the sophistication of the architecture. The temple also features a beautiful, well-maintained garden that adds to the temple's beauty and elegance. The garden also proudly adorns a stream consisting of crystal clear water and various fishes. Various fountains also are present in the garden that adds to its beauty and positive aura. The festival of Paryushan is celebrated with huge pomp and show inside the temple during the month of Bhadra. The shrines of this temple are decorated with precious metals and semi-precious stones that add to the shrines' beauty. Moreover, the flooring is done with exquisite marbles that add to the temple's purity and sophistication.
