About Global Vipassana Pagoda

The Global Vipassana Pagoda is declared as one of the "Seven Wonders of Maharashtra" by Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation. The pagoda consists of three sub-domes. The first and largest dome was completed when bone relics of Gautama Buddha were enshrined in the central locking stone of the dome on October 29, 2006, This makes it the world's largest hollow stone masonry structure containing relics of the Buddha. The aim of the pagoda is to express gratitude to Gautama Buddha for dispensing universal teaching for the eradication of suffering, to reveal the truth about the life of Buddha and His teaching, and to provide a place for the practice of Vipassana meditation. While you are here you can take advantage of free Vipassana meditation courses which are held free of charge at the meditation center that is situated in the Global Vipassana Pagoda complex. So for all those meditation lovers or even if you don't I would suggest you must have come to this holy place and see the positive vibes, peace this shrine has to offer you.
