Kamala Nehru Park is named after Kamala Nehru, wife of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. From a particular height of this park, one may easily spot Marine Drive and the gorgeous Mumbai skyline. If you are looking for some traditional outdoor experience you must visit the Kamala Nehru Park. Apart from providing playground amenities for kids to have a fun time, the park impresses with its spectacular perspective of Mumbai's iconic Marine Drive, also known as the Queen's necklace. You can stay back to watch the sunset as well, and see the city of Mumbai as it lights up right in the evening from an advantageous viewpoint. The speciality of this park is it's perched on a hill, hence it is comparatively less humid than in the city, fusing a wonderful, light-hearted cheerfulness in its air and presenting a setting for community interaction. During the monsoons here in Mumbai you will see that the colourful palette of flowers, chirping of migratory birds. If you are lucky enough you may get to see some rare birds especially early in the mornings. The Ashoka Pillar is the only point within the park which is holding on to its inherent historical background. The four-faced lion statue represents a small but important heritage from our founding fathers.

How to reach

You can reach Kamala Nehru Park either by road or by rail. Hiring a cab is pretty easy and convenient nowadays. It takes about 15 minutes to reach Kamala Nehru Park from Charni Road station. You may also catch Bus No. 108 to the park. It tracks its route from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus to its last stop at Kamala Nehru Park.

  • Playing games such as cricket or football is strictly prohibited at the park.
  • You may get something to eat at the nearby Chowpatty Beach before or after going to the park, as eatables are not allowed inside.
  • If you want to eat something inside the spot, then keep your food with you.
  • Don't smoke inside.
  • Don't use alcohol. 
  • Don't take photographs if it is not allowed.
  • Wear light clothes and shoes.
  • Carry lightweight luggage with you.
