How to reach

The road that heads south from Ubud on Jalan Monkey forest leads to the Ubud Monkey Forest.

About 1.5 km from the city center is the Monkey forest 

Tips

  • This being a sanctuary filled with real temples be respectful and show this in your attire. Make sure the lower part of the torso is fully covered.
  • Keep your bags zipped with sunglasses, cameras and other valuables secure.
  •  Visitors should ensure they maintain the sanctity and accord due respect to the shrines, the inmates and the traditional beliefs.
  • Facilities here include exhibition room, open stage, first-aid clinic, animal clinic, wide parking area, and sufficient toilets.
  • Respect the natural behavior of the primates as they are wild animals with unpredictable behavior.
  •  Those with children with them ensure that they are informed about the mode of conduct.
  • This is a sanctified area and some parts of the forest are prohibited for the public to see or to visit like that of the temple. This would be open only for the devout and those wearing the proper Balinese praying attire.
  • If carrying a plastic bag or bottle please ensure you leave it at the entrance counter.
  •  Visitors can buy bananas at the banana counter inside the Monkey Forest. It is however forbidden to feed peanuts, biscuits, bread, and other human snacks to the monkeys because of health reasons. However, don't try and hide food because the monkeys will get to know and will try to get it.
  • Visitors can interact with the monkeys but should refrain from touching and playing with the monkeys.
  •  If the monkeys jump on visitors try to remain calm, do not panic,  stand up and slowly walk away.
  • In case of monkey bites, get to the Monkey Forest First Aid and let the staff( in green uniform) administer first aid.
  • Do seek assistance from the staff whenever the need arises
