About St. Mark's Campanile

The huge Piazza San Marco is a public square where you will find yourself quite often. Venice's beloved landmark is home to and near several tourist landmarks such as the Campanile and Basilica di San Marco.
Beneath its arresting arcades are shops, restaurants, offices, museums, and fashionable cafes such as Caffe Florian. The place is always crowded with tourists, with dozens of pigeons being permanent residents here.
It's an ideal place to have your dinner after an exhausting day of sightseeing.

At 99m, St. Mark's Campanile is unmissable from any part of the city. Venice's tallest structure is a landmark and popular with tourists.
Situated in the enormous St. Mark's Square, the tower began its journey in the 12th century as a lighthouse for ships in the lagoon area. It took its present form in the 16th century with a few additions, including the belfry and the spire.
For a few euros, visitors are whisked away in an elevator to the belfry loggia. From here, one can get a superb view of Venice city and the surrounding areas. On clear days, if you are lucky, you can even see the Alps.
