About Ponte di Rialto (Rialto Bridge)

An icon of Venice, Rialto Bridge is one of the most photographed tourist attractions in the city. The oldest of the four bridges across the Grand Canal, it was built in the 16th century and offers majestic views of the canal.
The elegant bridge's striking high arch (24ft) was designed to allow galley ships to pass through.
The Rialto is more than a bridge; it is also a shopping destination. Right on the bridge are located a variety of lovely shops that sell jewellery, linen, Murano glass, and other items; if you are hungry, you can dine as well at the restaurants on the bridge.
Right next to the bridge is the famous Rialto market, where you can buy groceries and fresh fish. Perpetually crowded, the bridge is a must-see attraction for tourists.
