  • Respect human rights in Laos just as you would at home.
  • The local rule when being seated is to remove shoes and socks.

Night Life

Luang Prabang, due to traditional and conservative culture, is often not coined as a nightlife destination. However, there are a few places where you can go and party. They are even open past midnight, where conversation and beer flow in harmony. You can enjoy your stay in Luang Prabang and make it more exciting if you know exactly where to go and what to do, as while the town lacks in loud and packed nightclubs there are few decent bars and clubs which stay open until 3 am, which are at the outskirts of the city. Try the 1861 Bar which is a French colonial Cafe and Bar. Icon Klub is a hidden cocktail bar that hosts poetry reading sessions from time to time. Lao Lao Beergarden, Hive Bar &Restaurants are other restaurants worth trying. It is to be kept in mind that there is a  curfew on bars located in the city center after 11.30pm. Nevertheless, you have other options like the Luang Prabang night market and Royal Ballet Theater which are worth exploring.

Must See

  • After you've done that, it is recommended to try one of the restaurants at the riverside of the Mekong, where you can relax with an ice chilled beer and a stunning view over the river. You can also enjoy the riverside with a coffee, fruit shake or any other soft drink as well.
  • The Tat Kuang Si Waterfall which is located about 30 kilometers out of the city.  Refreshing natural pools and lots of waterfall cascades with magnificent water.
