About Old City Riga (Vecriga)

The Old Town of Riga is an entertainment district in the historical and geographical center of the Latvian capital, which also features cobblestoned streets and an abundance of architectural gems from the medieval era. The Old Town is a striking example of how cities were built back in the day. Most buildings were built by guilds of artisans and craftsmen. It has over 500 dwellings built in various architectural styles – Romantic, Gothic, Baroque, Eclectic, Modern et al. This historic center was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997. The streets of the Old Town have numerous restaurants and cafes catering to all tastes and pockets.
