About Grand Friday Mosque

Male is famous for this exclusively built golden dome which has now become a symbol of the rich cultural city. The mosque was built back in 1984 with the help of Pakistan, Malasia, and the Gulf States. Built-in plain white marble and free from artificial decoration, this mosque stands different and high due to its uniqueness. Set back off the important square, Jumhooree Maidan, it is the country's largest mosque. The main prayer hall inside the mosque can accommodate up to 5000 worshippers and has beautifully carved wooden side panels and doors, a specially woven carpet, and impressive chandeliers!
