About Frida Kahlo Museum

The House where the celebrated Mexican painter Frida Kahlo was born and lived with her husband Diego Rivera, also a renowned artist, was converted into a Museum in 1958, 4 years after her death. Built in 1904, the house with a central open courtyard has a constructed area of 800 square meters of two floors consisting of 10 bedrooms, studio space, a large kitchen and dining room. The important works of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera have been displayed for the public. It is one of Mexico City’s most-visited museum with a footfall of about 25,000 visitors monthly. The museum also holds works of Diego Rivera and other prominent artists of Mexico. Mexican folk art, Hispanic artifacts, memoirs, and few personal items add color to the collection displayed in the museum. The museum has been pretty much preserved since 1950.
