About Bahía San Agustín

One of the best things about Bahía San Agustín is that its out-of-the-way location allows it to be a quiet site. The beach is never overcrowded, and you can easily spend a day relaxing in the golden sands. In fact, contrary to most beach sites (and sights), you are likely to see less than 100 people on the beach at any time. This means the bay has no electricity or running water. So be careful about that and plan before you visit! Except for that, the beach offers one of the best, most beautiful relaxing spots in the world.

Blessed by an abundantly beautiful landscape, Bahía San Agustín is a must-visit if you plan a trip to Oaxaca. Offering coral reefs to snorkelers and divers, it is considered one of the most beautiful of all the 9 bays of Huatulco. If you are interested in sea life, this is the place to be. Bahía San Agustín has an abundance of exuberant sea life for you to explore like urchins, rays and bright shoals of tropical fish. Late mornings here are the best time to visit as early on is when hordes of travelers arrive in boats and catamarans just to try their hand at snorkeling. Close at hand is Maguey Beach which also like San Agustin has beautiful sandy beaches, calm waters with the protective rock formations ideal that makes its waters safe for swimming, and doing scuba diving and snorkeling. With quaint, rustic beachside eat-outs and the shaded palm palapas(shelters) serve palatable seafood stuff. Apart from the waters at the beach, one can even take a short hike up the nearby hillside to the shrine of st. Augustine. Hikers will be amply rewarded for their efforts with verdant forests, rolling hills, and the waves lashing at the rocks.

Another great thing about the beach is that there are no resorts or similar developments along with it, just the traditional comedores extending along with it. Be it swimming, diving, or simply relaxing on the beach, Bahía San Agustín has everything to offer to make your stay amazing.
