About Nejjarine Museum of Wooden Arts & Crafts

Fez is an ancient city which is famous for its rich history and Moroccan traditions. The city has two old Medina quarters, namely Fes el Bali and Fes Jdid. This city is a treasure chest for its heritage preserved in museums while the City itself is exquisite and uniquely attractive.

The Nejjarine Museum of wooden arts and crafts sits in the center of Medina called Nejjarine Square. The traders and merchants of Fes once used this building and now converted into a museum of Moroccan wooden arts and crafts. It showcases various objects, tools, restored arches, and artifacts of woodcarving. The museum has restored intricate wood carvings on its walls, columns, and inner courtyard. Besides this, the building itself is a story of art and heritage. This is why it is declared as a world heritage site by UNESCO and since then it has been attracting tourists from across the world.

It is a unique experience and opportunity to view stunning pieces of wooden art and crafts, including the architecture and interior of the building as well as to witness modern-day carpenters outside the museum creating their wooden masterpieces. It showcases the journey through displaying domestic, architectural, and liturgical wooden artifacts from the 14th century till today.

For those who have a special love for arts and architecture dating back to millions of years, the Nejjarine Museum of Wooden Arts & Crafts is indeed the place. The museum is a perfect example of redefined architecture and a history of diversified cultures. If you happen to be in Fez, this museum is surely not to be missed at all.
