About Hoge Veluwe National Park

It may sound like a dream, but it is very much true. Come visit the Hoge Veluwe National Park in the Netherlands and have the experience of a lifetime. 

This national park is a very famous tourist attraction as it includes everything from high sand dunes to dense forests. It is also the country’s largest nature reserves. The Hoge Veluwe National Park comprises an area over 13,000 hectares. All the more reason to pack your bags and hop on the next car to this place! You can explore this beautiful nature reserve on white bikes, offered by the park free of charge. Or you can visit the Kröller-Müller Museum that is located on the same property. There, you can enjoy the comfort of a sculpture park, or even witness one of the biggest private Van Gogh collections.

The Hoge Veluwe National Park is also home to an array of birds and animals, including wild boar, and deer. Ensure that you opt for the seasonal, after-dark safari to experience the spellbinding view of the stars as you lie under them. There is much to do and see at this park, that you will feel one day isn’t nearly enough!

How to reach

It is easily accessible from the following cities:  Ede, Wageningen, Arnhem and Apeldoorn.

Train

Reach the train stations Apeldoorn or Ede-Wageningen as the buses leaving from there stops near the entrance of the park.

Bus

Take the 108 bus line from Apeldoorn and stop at Hoenderloo, change to bus 106 which will take you to the middle of the Park near the Visitor Centre.

Taxi
One way taxi will charge around 21 EUR from the city center.


Be aware of the Bus 106 schedule as it only runs hourly.
 

Tips

  • The park is also home to a sculpture park and art gallery, the Kroller-Muller Museum.
  • Visit early morning as it is the best time to do some animal spotting.
  • For more details regarding locations of wildlife, observation pick up a park map from the visitor center.
  • The museum also has a cafe, Treehouse, visitor center and a shop for visitors.
  • Blue Bikes are available for rent, it is the best way to tour the park and enjoy its magnificent scenery.
  • Bike use is free.
  • Wheelchair bikes and trikes are available free of charge.
  • There is an interesting short film especially for kids playing in the auditorium of the visitor center.
  • Guided tours can be purchased in the visitor center or at the entrance gates, along with English-language audio guides.
  • Don't forget to carry your camera to capture the amazing view of rare wildlife species.
  • Wear proper footwear.
  • Carry an ample amount of water to keep yourself hydrated.
  • The parking lot is available near the entrance.
