Do's:

  • Visit the council office in case of emergencies.
  • Wear modest clothing as skin revealing clothes are considered offensive, especially for women.
  • Try to opt for five-star hotels as they provide full security.
  • Since the city is usually warm, you can wear cotton fabrics or light clothing.
  • Always appoint a hotel guide for your tours instead of other unauthorized individuals or businesses.
  • Carry your own bottled water. Never drink from taps as the local water is unclean.
  • Carry a mosquito repellent and sunscreen to combat the hot weather and insects, mainly during evening time.
  • Always be cautious and avoid dangerous areas.

Don'ts

  • Do not speak against Islam as it is considered offensive.
  • Do not go to isolated areas without a guide. It is unsafe and you might lose your way.
  • Do not carry a lot of cash. Theft is common.
  • Do not go out in case of a political clash. Stay indoors and be safe and alert.
  • Do not leave your children alone.
  • Avoid going to Karachi during Ramadan because most tourist attractions close early.
  • Do not trust strangers.
  • Try to avoid eating from small, sidewalk stalls because they may lack basic hygiene standards.

Night Life

The city of Karachi offers an energetic nightlife scene that has several things to keep you entertained. With a large selection of bars, cafes, and clubs, everyone will find something interesting to do in the evening. All major nightlife venues are situated in the Clifton and Sea View areas of the city. The local clubs, popular for their music and DJs, are very safe. Here you can enjoy some classy cocktails in a cozy, relaxed ambiance. Or you could opt for touring the city in a horse carriage, resting in a karaoke bistro, or strolling in an indoor park. The city may seem huge, boisterous, and chaotic, yet its appeal is inexhaustible for the visitor who wishes to have an uncommon night out.
