About La Catedral

The classic Renaissance style, Latin cross-shaped building, stands magnificently in Plaza De Armas. The building's foundation started in the year 1559, and it is said that the entire work was completed only after a year. The exquisite arts and carvings throughout Catedral are made out of Cedar and Alder. The building's interiors are the most important place of illustrations where the skills speak about the past from the Cusco school of paintings. Especially the Last Supper painting in the building is considered as the most beautiful depiction of the history in which Guinea pig is served as the main dish is an attraction. This building is a part of the UNESCO World Heritage site and joined the group in 1983. There are so many gold and silver chapels are in the collection of the building's stone works.
Religious festivals are a brilliant time to enjoy the most. Especially during the Corpus Christi feast, we can see thousands of people holding candles in their hands and mourning music bands. Senor parade is conducted every year on holy Mondays. At that time, people throw flowers on the Senor that resembles the color of the blood drops and the pain of the excruciation. The statue has become black because of the residue collected by the flower's stickiness from the candles.  A good time to visit such a beautiful place is between November and April. This period gives a good and lovely experience. This place serves as a good book for history lovers and historical researches.
