About Trujillo

Almost two thousand years ago, the first travelers to the Moche Valley achieved seemingly impossible trek with their bare hands. They created farmlands in the desert, rafts that could serve the wave, beautiful jewelry from the crude metals, and an entire city out of the mud. Taking such artistic development into consideration, the Spanish decided to convert it into one of the world's most beautiful city, which is known as Trujillo.

Trujillo contains both scenic picturesque as well as rich biodiversity. The metropolitan city is famous for giving Peru it's a traditional dance, Mariners, for which Trujillo is also considered as "Capital of Marinera." It is also known for rich colonial and religious architecture, especially the unique wrought ironwork. The Catedral at the northern end of Plaza de Armas, however, has remained mostly unchanged for more than 400 years.

Apart from these, Trujillo has a famous surfing destination, Huanchaco, which attracts a lot of tourists every year from around the globe. This city is also the gateway to the famous archaeological site Chan Chan. Talking of the city's biodiversity, Trujillo Botanical Garden, also known as Jardin Botanico, contains numerous species of plants, including many endangered plant species too. Various animals and birds like peacock, parrots, and turtle get often witnessed here in the surroundings.

This colorful place is clean and shiny enough. Exploring its compact city center is like browsing through an open Spanish museum where you can find bright and colorful mansions with grill windows and wooden balconies. Its rich historical background has contributed to tourism, making it the dominant business in Trujillo.
