About Palace Square

Palace Square has been one of the most popular tourist spots in St. Petersburg since the last three centuries. The beautiful and harmonious ensembles of architecture surrounding the plaza attract locals and tourists alike. It has been the setting of many major events in Russian history, like Bloody Sunday massacre in the year 1905 and the October Revolution in 1917. It is now the rallying place for every imaginable political demonstration, official ceremonies, festivals and concerts. Palace Square is often crowded with locals hanging out and tourists gazing at the beautiful buildings surrounding this place. The queue to the Hermitage also passes through the plaza and you will be able to see visitors waiting to get into the museum.
