It may not be the tallest mountain in Saudi Arabia, but it is certainly the best known. Jabal al-Lawz is 8,460-feet high, made of light calc-alkaline granite. Its peak generally leans eastward to the rising sun.
Jabal al-Lawz has a story of biblical proportions. Some believe this is, in fact, Mount Sinai where Moses was given the Ten Commandments. Perhaps he lived in one of the rock cairns with rare paintings depicting elephants and cow-like animals. Whether he did or not, the rock paintings are something to see just for their own value.
When you think of Saudi Arabia you probably only think of deserts, heat, and palm trees. Jabal al-Lawz gets snow because of its high peaks and location away from the Red Sea. You’ll need to dress warmly.
Wondering how can you reach Jabal al-Lawz, well you can either hire a car or even self drive whatever is convenient for you.
If you drive from Riyadh to Jabal al-Lawz it takes 14hours and 37minutes approximate fuel cost: 281.242 SAR- 412.488 SAR and 942.1 miles.
