About Abu Kubais

The place that has an unknown origin mythologically and religiously very alluring is the Abu Kubais. The mountain of Abu Kubais has been worshipped sacredly by the Muslims as a popular belief states that the prophet split the moon half from this very mountain top. This place is also believed to be the first of all the mountains that God or Allah created. As per at-Tabari, Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) died at the foot of Mount Abu Kubais and was subsequently buried there. The place is also house to a famous prayer house the Ibrahim mosque. With a few other majestic monuments of significant religious interest in the vicinity, the place attracts spiritual and religious enthusiasts here in large numbers.

How to reach

From Mecca city, you need to take taxi as it is 11 Km away and takes 16 minutes to reach via route no 15l; if you go there by bus it will take 1 hr 5 min by 40 SAR. Take Uber taxi as it is reasonable.

Tips

  • Wear comfortable shoes.                   
  •        Take a water bottle and snacks with you   
  •        Wear comfortable clothes.
  •        Bring an extra set of Ihram in case one gets dirty or you sweat too much
  •        If you are sensitive to light bring sunglasses as it gets very bright
  •        For the hijr, Ismail for Zohor or Asar pray near the entrance and when salat is finished go near the entrance. After the funeral prayer they will open the gate         up and it will be straightforward to go in
  •        Don’t be put off by the hot weather. Even though it is very hot you really don't feel it
  •        There is water everywhere so keep yourself hydrated. It does get extremely HOT so be careful.
  •        You can bring a book for all your Dua's everyone has them.
  •        Take cameras at your own risk.
