Most visitors to Kruger fly via O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) near Johannesburg. 

You can hire a taxi from any of these 3 airports near Kruger Park:

  • Nelspruit
  • Hoedspruit
  • Phalaborwa

one can hire a car at Polokwane and drive to Pafuri.

Distance from cities:

  • Johannesburg/Pretoria is 420 km (to the southern gate)
  • Durban - is 752 km
  • Bloemfontein - is 834 km
  • Port Elizabeth - is 1,436 km
  • Cape Town - is 1,842 km

Tips

  • Explore the park with your own company. Enjoy the bliss of solitude in its golden hours.
  • Find accommodation within the park in one of the rest camps, according to your budget.
  • Focus on one area of the park at a time.
  • Dress comfortably and wear appropriate walking shoes.
  • The huge and lush park will demand a second or third visit from you. Save the rest of the park for those times.
  • Malaria pills? Talk to your doctor and decide whether you would like to carry some malaria pills before venturing into these zones. If not, a malaria-free safari destination might be better suited to you.
  • Photography is permissible inside the park.
  • Carry a hat and sunglasses.
