About Plaza de Toros Seville

Experience the most emotive emotions as you stand under the big sky in the center of the arena with its yellow earth and tiers of seating and the doors from which the bulls emerge. Welcome to La Maestranza one of the most famous bull-rings in Spain. This place is an icon. The Plaza de Toros de Sevilla with a unique Baroque facade dating from 1762 to 1881, is the largest and most important arena for bullfighting in Spain. This amazing oval arena located in the El Arenal harbor district was built in the 18th century and can accommodate 13,000 spectators.

Have a tiny taste of what it's like to be a bullfighter by standing in the middle of the ring, after a tour in the small museum. It is fascinating watching something that goes back centuries and watching the locals arrive in the best evening dress to cheer on the fighting. A very traditional experience to see the whole bullfight, with all the spectacular costumes and the full pageantry of the event.  This is an integral part of Spanish history and culture. This is an interesting worthwhile tour, even if you don’t agree with the principle of bullfighting.  In the Plaza de Toros, there is also the 'Museum of bullfighting' with, among other things, a hall with paintings about bullfighting.  It is a place with strong vibes as you follow the path of the matadors and see their costumes and paraphernalia. Some wonderful artworks inspired by bullfighting are displayed including a series of small sketches by Goya, the development, history, and artifacts of the Seville Maestranza and the art of bullfighting, the animal corral, matador dressing rooms, the chapel and finally, of course, you get to enter the vast bullring - the second oldest in Spain after Ronda - to let your imagination run riot.
