About Wat Arun (The temple of Dawn)

 An alluring temple majestically located over the banks of river Chao Phraya in Bkakgonhwith a 70 m high spire which is decorated with tiny pieces of colored glass and Chinese porcelain. This is the temple of Dawn or the Wat Arun, named after the Hindu God Aruna or beams of the rising sun. The scenic beauty of the temple enhances when the sunlight fades with the dusk to the contrary belief that it is the temple of dawn. The walls are intricately decorated, with murals and along with sculptures of Thai soldiers and animals The unique architecture sets the temple completely apart from all other shrines in the city. Climbing up the highest point to see Chao Phraya river getting a glimpse of Wat Pho and Grand Palace at the opposite end are magical moments. The glorious golden Buddha image is a serene and delight vision to the eyes. The picturesque beauty of the river and the surroundings of the temple make it a magnificent place of visit.

Taking a ferry from the Central Pier is the ideal way to reach Wat Arun. Riverboat at Pier 8 may help the visitors reach the place.

Walk about 1-minute to central tier to Chao Phraya tourist boat to reach the place.
