About Sunday Walking Street

Sunday Walking Street is present right in the heart of Chiang Mai's old town, making it a magnet for attracting tourists worldwide. It is a huge street market and is open only on Sundays from 5.00 p.m. onwards till midnight. It extends to nearly 2 kilometers from the Ratchadamnoen road creating the ultimate shopping experience. The locals would be bustling down the streets and markets accompanied by non-stop the movement of traffic on the streets. You can visualize the streets quickly come to life from dusk to midnight, with people enjoying a stroll in the dimly lit night. Situated in the central part of the city, makes it easy to find and explore in the most extended amount of time. Saying the streets could be crowded, would be an understatement, but sticking along is the right choice in this jam-packed condition.

People would continuously be dodging others into every shop, and there is no real direction that everyone goes. The rambling street market is filled with clothes, handicrafts, art, musicians, souvenirs, and tons of food. The shops sell at the lowest price and lure the customers with a wide variety of choices in every product. The most relaxing thing in this street is that you can get a foot massage for next to nothing. The tasty delicacies, fresh fruit juices, swirling noodles with a touch of Thai in it, making it satisfying for the taste buds in your mouth.

The Sunday Market is also famous for different local events like dance recitals, a local orchestra, and even local beauty pageants. Stages are projected, and performances are displayed on either side of the main road, making it a free theatrical experience. The shops contain many accessories, including home decors, cosmetics, jewelry, designer knockoffs, creative t-shirts, straw bags, hats, and Thai silk, which enchants us to buy any one of the products. It is certainly worth a visit!
