Khao Kheow Open Zoo has almost 8000 animals and close to 300 species. The zoo encompasses over 2,000 acres of the Khao Kheow-Khao Chom Puo Wildlife Sanctuary. The animals are placed in enclosures, very much similar to the natural habitats, for their easier adaptability. The zoo is divided into 400 acres of animal habitat, 200 acres of public recreational areas, and 1400 acres for research. This research area is used for the breeding of various endangered species. This is the first zoo in Thailand to become a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA). Another attraction is that one can feed the animals and also watch the shows. It can be a full day of fun for the children and the adults alike. As it is a huge space you can drive around the zones or can board a shuttle bus service or even rent an electric car to drive around. It is advisable to come early in the morning, and totally avoid during the rains.
Walking: You can reach there in 9 hours and 15 minutes. It's about 49.2 km from Pattaya city center via route no 3.
Car: You can reach there in 1 hour 15 minutes it's about 54.7 km via pass by Green hotel south of Pattaya route no 7.
Bike: You can reach there within 1 hour 36 minutes via route no 3.
