About James Bond Island

James Bond island became popular after the success of the James Bond movie, The Man with the Golden Gun, that was filmed here. Earlier its local name was Koh Tapu, meaning Nail Island derived from its pointed rock and Koh Phi Khan derived from its surroundings meaning hills leaning against each other. The limestone cliffs and the emerald green water make it very distinctive. The place is a popular destination among tourists and is a perfect example of mother nature's magic.
