About Sirinat National Park

Formerly known as Nai Yang National Park, the Sirinat National Park is situated on the northwestern coast of Phuket Island with the pine-fringed beach, Nai Thon at the southern corner and Nai Yang near the Phuket International Airport. Its Mai Khao Beach is home to nesting turtles, including leatherbacks and hawksbills as well as mole crab. Tropical coral reefs cluster in the waters offshore and mangrove forests shelter birds such as kingfishers past Sai Kaew Beach in the north.

Marine life, Sea turtles, Mole Crabs.

How to reach

The bus journey takes about 45 minutes and is the cheapest mode of travel. On the other hand, taking a taxi might be expensive but saves some time.

Tips

  • Both sides have lots of awesome seashells, hermit crabs and sand
  • On the left, you can find a nice spot to watch the waves while you sip a beer or coconut water
  • On the right, you might see a dead puffer/box fish washed ashore or experience airplanes roaring above your heads as the airport is nearby. At dusk when the tide is low, you could walk across watching the coral reefs, sea cucumbers, and crabs
  • Dead, uprooted trees that occasionally dot the beach provide great, natural and fascinating backdrops for photos
  • Be careful as some areas are not suitable for swimming
  • The sun is scorching so protect your skin with a good sunscreen. Wear a hat and long sleeves if possible.
  • If you can ignore the debris, overall the beach is quite beautiful.
