About High Line

Before being transformed into a public park, the High Line was a railway track, a historic freight line elevated above the streets of Manhattan.

This stretch was saved from definite demolition by well-meaning neighborhood folk and the City of New York. In  2009, the 1.45-mile-long strip was opened to the public, allowing visitors to experience nature, art, and design. During the warmer seasons,  there's nothing like walking through the High Line.
