About Plitvice Lakes National Park

As a valuable addition to the Unesco family, located in the capital of Croatia, Zagreb, this painting-like Park resembles a fairy-tale landscape that evokes peace, extreme beauty, and eternal youth. Stunning waterfalls and evergreen flora meet in a natural symposium of connection and harmony, establishing an endless continuity between dreamers and reality.  Come and see what Nature can create, and most importantly, how it can transform one of its finest elements into an internationally recognized Park.

How to reach

It is 112 km away from the city center.

You can reach there by Bus.

It takes just under 3 hours by bus from Zagreb to Plitvice. There are about ten buses that are running daily from Zagreb to this popular visitors destination. The ticket prices are about 100 HRK one way which is about 12 Euro.

Tips

  • Go there early to avoid huge crowds.
  • Try not to get stuck behind selfie specialists otherwise you might take all day!
  • Try to avoid July-August period. It's totally fine from 7 to 10 a.m. but then the hell is unleashed. Literally, thousands of tourists are going there and this all may happen at 32C heat.
  • Parking - you pay just for parking somewhere in the woods with no real infrastructure. Here you will see an authentic Croatian approach - do nothing and take money.
  • Take own lunch and water. Entrance 2 seemed to be a good option.
  • If you do choose to use a guide ensure they book tickets in advance otherwise the guide wastes time waiting inline which can be 30 min to an hour, or worse yet if it is busy you will only be granted access at a select time later that day
  • Book your tickets online in advance directly on the Plitvice National Park website
