About Neues Museum

Neues Museum translates to English as new museum. It is located on Berlin’s Museum Island near the Altes (old) Museum. The Museum was originally built in the mid 1800s, but was heavily damaged during World War II. It was painstakingly rebuilt, integrating the remnants of the historical building with new construction. It reopened in 2009, earning it the moniker "new". While the museum itself is considered new, the exhibits are old. The museum features three separate collections including a collection of Egyptian art, prehistoric objects, and classical antiquities, which are drawn from a wide geographic range, from the Middle East to the Atlantic, from North Africa to Scandinavia
