About Petra

"If the history of Petra isn't enticing enough to warrant a visit, the views might be. Located in a basin at the bottom of a mountain, Petra, or as the inhabitants called it, Raqmu, is a beautiful city carved out of rose-coloured stone.

The only way into Petra is through Siq, the 1.2 km narrow rockway through rock walls. Immediately at the end to welcome you to the Rose City is the Treasury, an ancient temple carved out of a rock face. Sitting above the city, also carved out of the rock face are a series of mausoleums called the Royal Tombs

The Theatre is a marvel that must be visited while visiting Petra. It was originally carved out of stone to accommodate 3,000 attendees and was later enlarged by the Romans to hold 8,500 attendees.

If this all sounds familiar, it could be for a very interesting reason. Petra has appeared in several video games like Sid Meier’s Civilization, Sonic Unleashed, and Overwatch.

Too fully appreciate the beauty of Petra, book a tour, stay for a couple of days, and enjoy the hikes up the mountains."
