About Sao Jorge Castle

If it’s your first visit to Portugal, then the countryside will take your breath away. The first thing to do in the country is to visit the capital city of Lisbon, offering a plethora of activities to do. Even if this is the only city in Portugal that you can afford to visit, be sure that you will go back home fully content and rejuvenated. Once you have got yourself settled in, visit the Castelo de São Jorge. This is often just called the Lisbon Castle. This is one of the capital city’s most well-known tourist attractions. The castle sits proudly atop the São Jorge hill, which happens to be the highest in Lisbon. There is a steep climb up the hill to get to the castle. But this doesn’t deter tourists or locals from visiting this alluring attraction.

The Lisbon Castle is an iconic part of the city’s skyline. Beautifully lit up at night, the castle continues to mesmerize all those who look at the skyline from the city down below. In 1920, the castle was restored, which is most of what we see of the castle today. Remember to carry your camera along and capture the wonderful sight of the sun setting over the horizon! This is easily the most popular tourist destination in the city.
