The United States is the oldest federation; Its current constitution was adopted in 1788 and has been amended 27 times. The United States is a representative democracy, run by three different levels of government: federal, state, and local.
The current President, Donald Trump, may serve a four-year term elected by an indirect Electoral College system that determines votes apportioned to the states. Not since the Second World War has a sitting President been permitted to serve their term more than twice. The United States is a capitalist economy. The private sector was estimated to constitute 86.4% of the economy, federal government activity 4.3%, and state and local government activity the remaining 9.3%.
The United States flag, the “Star-Spangled Banner”, is made up of stars and stripes. The 50 stars represent the states of the United States, and the 13 stripes the British colonies that declared independence from Great Britain to become the first states of the U.S. in 1776. One of the world’s largest countries by geography, visitors can take up to days and sometimes weeks to drive across this vast country. The United States has everything: beaches, national parks, historical sites, mountains, long winding highways, snow and sunshine, big cities, and small towns.
